I’m the writer and director of The Weight of Air. This project has been on my heart for over five-years, and now feels more pertinent than ever.
When I entered into the world of stunts in 2013, I had just graduated college with a degree in sociology and a passion for helping people. While I came to LA with dreams of becoming a filmmaker, I simultaneously worked for a local non-profit providing interventions and support to children in dire need. Through that job and numerous other positions working with youth, I’ve seen first-hand how children are affected by the choices adults make.
I was always torn with my decision to fully pursue a film career as it felt frivolous at times, but finally realized that my success as a stunt performer, and my background in social work, has left me uniquely suited to tell powerful stories. And now, it has become my mission.
Performing has opened up a world of possibilities - access to a platform that can inspire, genuine relationships with talented people seeking to make an authentic impact, a diverse perspective that broke me out of my limited worldview, access to resources that could truly make a difference, and, chances are…it has led me to you!
Thank you for joining me in this journey! I look forward to creating something meaningful together during this delicate time in history.
Hi, I’m Amy Sturdivant.
Professional Work
Amy Sturdivant, has been a stunt performer for over 12 years in the film, television, and video game industry on some of the largest productions shot within that timeframe - most notably within the Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, Zack Snyder, and Call of Duty franchises, amongst several others.
Previously Directed Short films
Over the duration of her career, Amy Sturdivant pursued Filmmaking and Action Directing through passion projects of her own - resourcing from the talent and generosity of the stunt community and giving back in the same way. Within many of the shorts that she wrote, developed, and created, she has sought to convey powerful and relatable concepts that can be interpreted by her audience in a way that is personal to them. The Weight of Air comes from an overflow of the heart and an internal disturbance of the soul; and, it is her hope that this message resonates even deeper with her audience than ever before.
*Note: these projects are independent, with no budget. They are in no way an indication of the scale and professional cinematography that will be going into our film, but merely a glimpse of her storytelling and artistry through lens and action.
